Blog Entry Date: May 14, 2014
Outstanding would best describe the recent bite! Fishing both shallow and deep, we have been able to record some solid catches of Grouper, Snapper, Kingfish and Drum.

Out on the offshore grounds, the Grouper bite continues to dominate the action aboard "The Grand Slam". We have been prospecting ledges and hardbottom areas in 40-60-feet of water with a variety of live and dead baits producing excellent results. Mixed in with Red and Gag Grouper has been a healthy dose stout King Mackerel up to 35-pounds! All of our larger Kings have been fooled with free-lined live shrimp and scaled sardines presented on a light wire trace.

Along with the usual Springtime inshore suspects of Snook, Redfish and Jack Crevalle, we have been turning several hard-charging Gag Grouper and Black Drum fishing the deeper mangrove island shorelines and residential dock of Naples Bay. Jigs, shrimp and scaled sardines have been our go-to baits.
