Naples Backcountry Shark

The inshore waters of Naples and Marco Island have been active both early and late in the fishing day. Aboard the Grand Slam, we have been targeting redfish, snook, mangrove snapper and some very large jack crevalle with great success employing a variety of live baits and top water lures.

Triggerfish

Bonus catches for our efforts fishing the shallows has been quite a few nice pompano and an astounding number of blacktip and bonnethead sharks. Great on light tackle, we have released all our shark catches to fight and thrill another day!

Naples Red Grouper
|
On the nearshore and offshore fishing grounds of the Gulf of Mexico, the reefs have been very active. We have been returning to The Port Of Naples docks with excellent catches of red grouper, mangrove/lane snapper, Spanish mackerel and some hefty Barracuda.
Permit continue to roam the nearshore artificial reefs in solid numbers. If you have never experienced the power of a permit you are truly missing out. Hard-charging, drag screaming runs with battles lasting up to 20-minutes are standard as our Naples permit are commonly 20-40-pound class fish!

Big Naples Barracuda
|
Also on the nearshore arena, Spanish mackerel continue to provide my anglers with ample hook ups casting jigs, spoons, live shrimp and fresh pilchards all rigged on a light wire trace. Fun on light tackle, limits of Spanish are coming over the rail in the 2-5-pound range.
September is hot and so is the fishing!
COME FISH THE GRAND SLAM!!!!
