Redfish Are On Fire! Blog Entry Date: September 10, 2012 As Summertime draws to a close, it's not too early to begin prepping for the Fall bite. Already, Gulf of Mexico water temperatures are beginning to fall and at times the morning and evening air feels a tad bit crisper. Wishful thinking? Well I certainly hope not as this guide is ready to tangle with some hard-charging Fall gamefish species! Prospecting For Bait Right now, we are on some quality Redfish schools in the middle bays from Naples south toward Marco. These fish are chewing on both the incoming and outgoing tide phases. The trick to staying on the bite is possessing quality live bait and prospecting current swept points and deeper shorelines. Big Redfish on 10# tackle! Nice Work!!! Although there are plenty of slot sized Redfish to be caught, there have been plenty of "over the slot" fish coming over the rails! With many of these larger redfish pushing 10-12-pounds, I anticipate the next few weeks to provide outstanding Redfish action both early and late in the fishing day. Over the slot Redfish!
